Artists Open Studios at Phoenix Brighton is one of the most popular events in the arts calendar of the city. Opening its doors for one weekend, Phoenix Brighton allows visitors a rare opportunity to see where the artists work. With over 100 studios in the building, there will be a diverse range of work on view including photography, film, ceramics, jewellery, painting, drawing, sculpture, design installation, performance and much more. In addition to talks and demonstrations from the artists’ there will be special video screenings by Junk TV and BANG (Brighton Animators Network Group), who will give a free animation Zoetrope workshop. There will be a chance to try out some of the new and regular arts courses run by Phoenix Brighton with Vocal Improvisation, Manga Art and Ceramic Jewellery on Saturday, and a special day of photography taster sessions on Sunday, to celebrate Brighton Photo Biennial. Our ever popular children’s art trail this year is ‘Monster Me’, encouraging a new generation of budding young artists. Open Studios also includes a shop selling unique high quality work by the artists and a café selling delicious snacks. Do come.
