Illustrators wanted for children’s poetry Brighton Festival event

Are you interested in drawing live to illustrate the poetry of primary school children for the Rap'n'Rhyme project next May?  Chris Riddell was a live illustrator last year and Brighton Uni students animated their illustrations of the poems this year.  Next year, it will be live projected illustration.

About 40 kids between 7 and 11 years old will write their own poetry based on the theme of the Brighton Festival, and perform the poems in the Jubilee Library in May with local illustrators using a visualiser to project the drawings onto a screen next to the children.  The audience of parents and library visitors is always a full house!

Illustrators will be given a copy the poems in advance so they can get ideas going and make the show spontaneous but not too terrifying for the artists.

It is hoped to give contributors £50-£100 for the gig. You can see poems, photos, animations and illustrations from the last three years here: www.rapnrhymers.com and reply directly to Kay Walton at   [email protected]
